Dennis is a born and bred tyke, having lived all his life in the Wakefield
area.
After retiring from Local Government service in 1991 he started to take an
interest in Yorkshire dialect and soon afterwards joined the U.3.A. group at
Ossett.
Encouraged by the then leader, Len Wilde, he tried his hand at writing in
dialect and as well as his poems and short stories, has written one or two
sketches and short Pantomimes for performance by the group. When Len resigned as
leader, Dennis took over and held the post for about five years, finally
standing down in order to find time for other activities.
